Snowy Saturday

We've had a few snow storms this season, but nothing that has shown much accumulation.  The boys have been persistent in asking to go out and by the time we're able to do such the snow has melted.  Not today!  We had about 1/2 an inch (yup!) and I promised to take them out.  They were big helpers in shoveling the driveway...

Then we did a little sledding (in the neighbors yard)

And finished up with a few quick slips down the slippery slide.

AJ managed to slip pretty hard and land on his bum with a big thud.  But that didn't stop him from making a snow angel!!!

After a total of 20 minutes out in the snow (it took us longer to get geared up to go out) they enjoyed a nice cup of hot cocoa!

Port Discovery!

Last weekend the boys cashed in their 'Golden Ticket' that Uncle Jon and Aunt Cori gave them for their birthdays.  The ticket included their first REAL train ride on the Amtrak from DC to Baltimore and admission to Port Discovery, an interactive children's museum.  We enjoyed a brief lunch at Union Station before boarding!!

It was a long day but the boys had a BLAST.  The entire train ride they squealed with excitement as we  switched tracks, went through tunnels, and of course, when the conductor came to punch their ticket.

Port Discovery was great.  There was lots to keep them entertained and active.  Trains, water play, soccer, giant playground, dying yawn (oops, I meant yarn), and playing with puppet.

A donut at Penn Station and riding in the dinning car on the trip home rounded out our fun day.  AJ passed out the moment we left DC.

Thank you Uncle Jon and Aunt Cori.  This was a memorable adventure they will never forget!!!

AJ's 4th Birthday Party!!!

Jan 6th we celebrated AJ's birthday party at APEX gymnastics (sorry for the late update!!)  It was a blast.  This was AJ's first birthday party and he was super excited for the big day!!

He invited his closest male friends (let's face it, AJ is mister popular and I had to limit it somehow!!) and classmates.  He wasn't picky and loved being center of attention.

Ben was having a lot of anxiety leading up to the event... he's been very nervous about new experiences, especially when new children are introduced.  He starts cognitive behavioral therapy tomorrow, we are hoping that will help him manage his anxiety and better express how he is feeling.  When it was all said and done Ben had a blast and we are glad that he joined the adventure!!

Afterwards we treated AJ to his personal birthday dinner at CiCis pizza (his choice).  When asking why Ben wasn't joining we told him it was HIS special day to spend with Mommy & Daddy.  Wouldn't you know it, AJ requested that Ben join the fun.  So the four of us had a nice dinner out.
