Houston, We Have a Problem

So you are all aware of Ben's favorite 'Raff'' lovie that he sleeps with. We had to purchase a 2nd blanket so that we could wash one while Ben is napping. Watch what happens when Ben 'discovers' the 2nd blanket (hidden, mind you) in the laundry pile. Now any time Ben sees a pile of laundry he goes a running and claps uncontrollably at his findings!

I think this was Ben's happiest moment to date. He was so happy in fact, that he made the two 'Raffs' kiss repeatedly!

The Badlands

We're considering renaming our community from The Broadlands to The Badlands. Last night a train of police cars lined up outside our house. This comes just days after the brutal beating of a couple jogging in Leesburg and home invasion in Lansdowne. Perhaps we should also consider changing LCPD to something more fitting as well, like....

LAPD

The only evidence I have of last night's event was this video Seth captured. I was fast asleep at the time of the event and heard or saw nothing (despite our bedroom window facing the street). Perhaps the eye surgery I had earlier in the week finally nixed my sight for good, or maybe I really am just THAT exhausted.

Happy Birthday Allie!

Wow, we can't believe you are TWO today! It seems like just yesterday you were showing Ben the ropes on the baby swing for the first time. Happy Birthday!!

Doctor, Doctor, Give me a Clue

I've got a bad case, of FEARING you!!

Yes, it is true. I'm terrified of the doctor. It doesn't matter if the appointment is for Mommy, Andrew, or just to pick up paperwork. As soon as I stroll through the doors to the doctor's office I tense up!

To prepare for my recent trip to the GI, Mommy got me my very own doctor's kit. I had a great time practicing on my puppy.

And then Mommy practiced on me...

But the true test came when I was eye to eye with the nurse. And this is how I reacted...

Guess practice doesn't make perfect in this case...

Lets GO, Maryland!

I was quite surprised myself that Maryland made the NCAA Tournament. Good luck tomorrow, I hope they make it far!

Frying Pan Park

Last weekend we went to Frying Pan park so Ben could once again get to see some animals other then the neighbor's cat that likes to perch on the hood of Seth's car.

Before we left the house, we prepped Ben on all of his 'farm knowledge'. He was going to be tested, and being that he IS Seth's son, we expected nothing short of perfection.

So how did Ben do??

Okay, so I guess he passes.

One of the reasons we opted on Frying Pan, as opposed to Reston or Leesburg Animal park, because really, who is going to pay $20 to see a smelly lama when you can get to see THIS terrifying thing for free!!

Again, even Andrew enjoyed his day out, strolling in the mud!!

Happy Birthday Cyndy! (And Caleb, again)

Clearly the lack of sleep has caught up with me! We got ahead of ourselves as Caleb's birthday is actually tomorrow! But TODAY we've got it down right! Happy Birthday Cyndy!! Hope you have a great day and Caleb, we hope your birthday is extra special tomorrow!

Happy Friday!

What could be better then watering dead plants in your PJ's??

My First Girlfriend

Who could forget Ben's first girlfriend... Hailey? Well, move over Ben, I'm already working on impressing my first gal-pal, Logan.

Is it just me, or does it seem as though she is giving me the crazy eye?! I guess it could be my ghost-like complexion, or the fact that I've already got a receding hairline.

Snow Fun on a Budget

Yesterday we went out to enjoy Ben's first trip in the snow. Was it a success? You be the judge....

The preparation took... oh, about 45 minutes.

Since we weren't sure if Ben would actually be able to make it out this year in the snow, I tried to make the most of the materials we had. Thus, "Snow Fun on a Budget" was born. It starts with:

- Extra large snow jacket (gift from Grandma) that can be worn through 2 seasons
- Mismatched London Fog snow pants (also too big) that were on deep discount at Macy's. (I had to use that 20% off coupon some time!)
- Sneakers wrapped in trashbags - AKA "snow boots"

After the transformation was made, this is how Ben reacted. Awesome.

[Notice his snow 'bucket' in this video is actually a watering can. Classic snow budget fun]

He actually warmed up to the snow (no pun intended) and started having fun.

More Snow Fun on a Budget.
Instead of THIS:

Ben got THIS:

He didn't seem to complain, and was happy for a stroll around the neighborhood in his wagon. His favorite part of the trip was going down the slide. Which really was just him sliding down, flying off at accelerated speeds and landing on his butt in the fluffy snow.

Ben wasn't able to really get around much in the snow. Perhaps it was that he was stuffed like a sausage in casing... or the fact that his plastic 'boots' were extra slick! Here is a video of him trying to 'get up' and walk.

It was a great time. Meanwhile Dad manned the fort with AJ who was nice and warm!

When we got back in Ben enjoyed his first cup of hot cocoa, made from scratch. Now that's love folks!!

My Baptism!

Yesterday was a very important day for me. Actually the MOST important day of my life! I was baptized at St. Theresa's in Ashburn. I was joined by Grandmom & Pop-pop Sinclair, Grandma & Grandpop Phillips, Uncle Jon & Cori, my Godparents Amanda & Jude, and obviously Mommy & Daddy and big brother Ben.

It was a little chaotic leaving the house... me and big bro Ben had a bit of a meltdown...

Here is a photo of the big MOMENT! The pouring of the waters.

Here I am with my Godparents - Jude & Amanda. They recently got engaged and are getting married this fall, right here at St. Theresa's!

They have played such an important role in my life already.

We tried to get a family photo, but Ben wasn't very cooperative. Grandma said he has 'white coat' syndrome. So true.

Here I am with Mom, Dad, Fr. Spychala, and my Godparents.

A trip down memory lane... I wore the same gown that Ben did (and Daddy and Grandmom too!!)

Leaving the church... Grandmom and Amanda 'handled' Ben.

Afterwards we headed to Clydes for a wonderful celebration. Thanks everyone for being part of my special day!!
