Snow Fun on a Budget

Yesterday we went out to enjoy Ben's first trip in the snow. Was it a success? You be the judge....

The preparation took... oh, about 45 minutes.

Since we weren't sure if Ben would actually be able to make it out this year in the snow, I tried to make the most of the materials we had. Thus, "Snow Fun on a Budget" was born. It starts with:

- Extra large snow jacket (gift from Grandma) that can be worn through 2 seasons
- Mismatched London Fog snow pants (also too big) that were on deep discount at Macy's. (I had to use that 20% off coupon some time!)
- Sneakers wrapped in trashbags - AKA "snow boots"

After the transformation was made, this is how Ben reacted. Awesome.

[Notice his snow 'bucket' in this video is actually a watering can. Classic snow budget fun]

He actually warmed up to the snow (no pun intended) and started having fun.

More Snow Fun on a Budget.
Instead of THIS:

Ben got THIS:

He didn't seem to complain, and was happy for a stroll around the neighborhood in his wagon. His favorite part of the trip was going down the slide. Which really was just him sliding down, flying off at accelerated speeds and landing on his butt in the fluffy snow.

Ben wasn't able to really get around much in the snow. Perhaps it was that he was stuffed like a sausage in casing... or the fact that his plastic 'boots' were extra slick! Here is a video of him trying to 'get up' and walk.

It was a great time. Meanwhile Dad manned the fort with AJ who was nice and warm!

When we got back in Ben enjoyed his first cup of hot cocoa, made from scratch. Now that's love folks!!
