I Did Good

Yesterday was my two month check up and I had my first set of shots. I did good! I only cried a little. Okay... so I cried a lot. But that may be because the nurse called me a girl... 3 times. I mean, do I look feminine to you??

Here are some pictures of me before leaving the house. I'm such a happy camper because I have no idea what is about to come. (Note the footballs on my carrier. Doesn't that scream BOY to you?!)

And, well here is a picture of my boo-boos. I got stuck on both legs!

And here I am after the fact. I think I'm stunned at everything that went down.

Mommy Needs a Shower

Many of you fellow mommies can sympathize with this posting. Mommy can never get any privacy it seems, even when she is in the bathroom!

Here I am.... This is Mommy's view of me

And this is my view of her!!

That Picture is Fabulous!

I love to stare! My favorite items are pictures on the wall.

Grandpop Sinclair thought that I could recognize Mommy and Daddy from their picture hanging on the wall because I would stare at it for long periods of time.

The truth is, I much prefer this photo hanging above the couch. I can stare at this one for hours!

It was easy to figure out why I love to stare at these pictures. It is a known fact that newborns can only see black and white at this age. Noted from iParenting: "Since they have trouble focusing, babies, especially the newborn, can only focus on contrasting color with black and white". Click HERE for a Q&A on this specific question.

So, while Daddy thinks I'm blowing him kisses, we really know what I'm really concentrating on!

Boy is it getting cold out there! We took a trip out last night and I wanted to show off my new woolie digs. I know you're jealous of how cozy I look!!

Yeah, I'm cute. I know it.

Baby Books Galore

Nothing could have prepared Mommy and Daddy for my arrival. Oh, but they tried their best... there is no doubt about that! They must have read over 20 books on the topic (see their library below)

Two key books in the pile are "Babywise" and "The Happiest Baby on the Block". These books have been read over and over again. Mommy would like to re-title these books to a more appropriate name, given her experience implementing these methods:

Babywise is good in theory- WHEN YOUR BABY IS NOT ONE WEEK OLD! The concept is simple- feed the baby, play/wake time, then put the baby to sleep. Well Mommy and Daddy tried to implement this method right out the gates. They were reading to me, playing with me, saying ABCs and shaking rattles in my face. This was just too much for my little brain to handle at the tender age of 2 days old. But I will admit that just recently we tried the Babywise system once again and I had a much better time... I even slept most of last night!

The other book, The Happiest Baby on the Block is wonderful. Dr. Harvey believes there is a 4th trimester that babies enter after they are born. Parents needs to recreate the womblike atmosphere by implementing the 5 S's: Swaddle, side lying, sucking, swinging, and last but definitely my favorite is 'SHHHHUSHing'. These easy methods turn on my calming reflexes, but poor Mommy and Daddy almost pass out from lack of oxygen they exert by shushing me!

The good news is I am slowly learning and giving Mommy and Daddy their much needed sleep!
